Most people book a wax every three to six weeks, which is roughly how long smooth results last. The limit at the shorter end is not the salon's diary but your own hair: it has to be long enough for the wax to grip, which for intimate waxing means around a quarter of an inch, or roughly two to three weeks of growth. Book too early and there is nothing to remove. Leave it too long and you are starting from scratch each time rather than settling into a cycle.

How long should you leave between waxing appointments?
Three to six weeks is the usual answer, because that is how long most people enjoy smooth results for. Where you sit in that range is down to your own regrowth rather than anything you can choose, and it tends to become obvious after two or three appointments.
The practical way to set it is to book the next appointment before you leave, on the interval that worked last time, and adjust once rather than guessing every time. Waxing rewards a rhythm, and most of the frustration people have with it comes from booking reactively when the regrowth has already become annoying.
Why does the hair need to grow back first?
Wax works by gripping the hair, so there has to be enough of it to grip. Therapy uses the Lycon system, which can remove hair as short as 1mm, but at least 5mm gives the best result across the body.
That is why an appointment booked too soon is a wasted trip rather than a partial success. The wax takes what it can reach and leaves the rest, and you end up back sooner than if you had waited another week.
Does regular waxing change the regrowth?
It can. Regular waxing can lead to finer regrowth, which is one of the real arguments for keeping to a cycle rather than dipping in and out of it.
Finer regrowth also tends to make the appointments themselves easier, and it is part of why people who have waxed consistently for a while report a different experience from people booking their first. This is a pattern rather than a promise, and it varies from person to person like everything else about hair.
How often should you book intimate waxing?
The same three to six week range applies, but the growth requirement is the thing to plan around. For intimate waxing, the hair wants to be around a quarter of an inch, which is roughly two to three weeks of growth, so the wax can grip properly.
That sets a hard floor on how soon you can rebook. If you have a date in mind, count back two to three weeks and stop shaving at that point rather than the week before. Results typically last a few weeks and vary from person to person, so the first two appointments are largely about finding your own interval.
A bikini wax is £20 and a Hollywood, which removes all the hair for a completely smooth finish, is £40. The Hollywood wax page covers the difference between the two and what happens during the appointment.
Does the right interval differ by area?
Therapy publishes one range across its waxing treatments, three to six weeks, plus a growth requirement of around a quarter of an inch for intimate waxing. There is no separate published interval for legs, arms, underarms or face, so the same range is the starting point everywhere.
In practice most people find some areas come round faster than others and end up booking a couple of things together on the slower cycle. Say what you want doing when you book, so enough time is allowed.
What happens if you shave in between?
It resets the clock. Shaving removes the hair at the surface, so the growth you need for the next wax has to build up again from there, which usually pushes the appointment back rather than forward.
It is the single most common reason a booked wax has to be rescheduled, and it is entirely avoidable once you know. If you have a holiday or an event coming up, the shaving is the thing to plan around, not the waxing.
How do you plan waxing around a holiday or an event?
Work backwards and leave a margin. Waxing the day you travel is not the plan you want, and our guide to waxing before a holiday sets out how many days to leave and what to avoid afterwards.
If a spray tan is also involved, the order of the two matters and getting it the wrong way round wastes one of them. Our guide to waxing before or after tanning covers that. For a wedding, the whole run-up including colour, lashes and nails is in our guide to booking wedding hair and beauty.
What does waxing cost in Canterbury?
Waxing at Therapy runs from £10 to £40 depending on the area. A lip wax is £10, a brow wax £15 and an underarm wax £15. A lip and chin is £20, a half leg £20 and a bikini £20. An arm is £25, a full leg £30 and a Hollywood £40.
Because waxing repeats, the interval matters more to the annual total than the single price does. A treatment at the shorter end of the three to six week range comes round roughly twice as often as one at the longer end.
Frequently asked questions
How many weeks between waxing appointments?
Three to six weeks for most people, which is how long smooth results typically last.
How long does hair need to be to wax?
At least 5mm gives the best result, and Lycon can remove hair as short as 1mm. For intimate waxing the hair wants to be around a quarter of an inch, roughly two to three weeks of growth.
Can I shave between waxing appointments?
Shaving removes the hair at the surface, so the growth needed for the next wax has to build up again from there. It usually pushes the next appointment back rather than forward.
Does waxing regularly make the hair finer?
Regular waxing can lead to finer regrowth, though this varies from person to person.
How often should I have a Hollywood wax?
The same three to six week range applies, with a floor set by growth: the hair wants to be around a quarter of an inch, roughly two to three weeks, before the next appointment.
How much does waxing cost at Therapy?
From £10 for a lip wax to £40 for a Hollywood. A bikini is £20, a half leg £20 and a full leg £30.
What happens if I book a wax too soon?
There may not be enough length for the wax to grip properly, so the result will be patchy and you will be back sooner than if you had waited.
