What BIAB is, and why we specialise in it
BIAB stands for Builder In A Bottle, a soak-off builder gel applied as a strengthening overlay over your natural nail. It adds structure and protection while keeping a slim, natural finish, rather than the thicker, more artificial look of some other systems.
Applying BIAB well takes real skill, so our technicians have made it a focus of their work. It typically lasts two to three weeks before a refresh or infill, and it is gently soaked off rather than filed or drilled away, which helps protect the natural nail.

What a gel manicure is, and how it differs from BIAB
A gel manicure is coloured gel polish applied thinly to the natural nail and cured under a UV or LED lamp. The finish is glossy and chip-resistant, and far more durable than standard polish, typically lasting two to three weeks before removal or a refresh.
Gel adds colour and shine but little strength. BIAB goes further, building a protective layer that supports the natural nail as it grows. If it is strength you are after rather than colour, BIAB is the better choice.
Shellac is the best-known brand name for gel polish, and the two terms are often used interchangeably. The treatment we offer is gel polish, so if shellac nails are what you are searching for, this is the same type of treatment.

Gel pedicures
A gel pedicure combines a thorough foot and nail treatment with long-lasting gel polish, cured under a UV or LED lamp. It includes nail shaping, cuticle care and a glossy top coat, and takes around one hour.
Because toenails grow more slowly, a gel pedicure typically lasts four to six weeks, often longer than a gel manicure.

Nail art
Nail art is the creative finishing layer added to a manicure or pedicure: hand-painted patterns, freehand line work, foils, chrome finishes and seasonal designs. It is applied over gel or BIAB and lasts as long as the manicure underneath.
It starts from £5 and is priced by the design, the number of nails and the time required. It can add anything from a few minutes for minimal detailing to over an hour for intricate designs, so please mention it when you book, and bring inspiration images if you have them.

What to expect at your appointment
The salon has been on the Burgate since 2003, a calm, welcoming space in the heart of Canterbury. Your treatment is tailored to your nails, taking in their condition, the shape you prefer and the colour or finish you have chosen, and every set is finished with a high-shine top coat.
If you are unsure which service to book, our team will be happy to advise when you book or at the start of your appointment.
Afterwards, cuticle oil and not using your nails as tools will help your manicure last. We would always recommend having gel and BIAB removed professionally rather than picking or peeling it off.

When this is not the right appointment
Acrylic nails are not on our price list, and BIAB is a strengthening overlay rather than an extension system. BIAB with tips adds a little length, but if dramatic length is the priority, say so when you book and we will tell you what we can do.
Gel and BIAB are cosmetic treatments rather than medical ones. If you have a suspected fungal nail infection, broken or inflamed skin around the nail, or any sign of infection, please speak to a pharmacist, GP or podiatrist first and come to us afterwards. Covering a nail with gel does not treat the problem underneath.
Removal and cancellation policy
We do not remove or infill nail products applied by other salons. Please ensure existing products are removed by the original salon before your appointment.
Cancellations or amendments require 24 hours notice. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will incur a 50 percent charge.
In practice: come to us with your current set already off, and if your plans change, let us know at least 24 hours ahead.
